HAVE YOU HEARD? No one knows when the first date was when the Howler was sighted. Some people believe it was in the mid to late 1800s, after Dunedin was founded, that the sightings began.
It's said the search for the Howler didn't begin until after the first children allegedly disappeared in the woods around what would become Hammock Park
Some people believe that the city commissioners know exactly who or what the Howler is but that officials refuse to say.
IMPORTANT COMMUNITY UPDATE 2024: Listen to the Dunedin City Commission PUBLICLY discuss the concern of "howling" throughout the city of Dunedin. PROOF ON RECORD!
Listen to Commissioner Tornga ask about what could be done about "someone" howling! Vice Mayor Freany ON RECORD saying "someone" might come get him if he howls in the city!!!!! OUTRAGEOUS!!!!!!
HISTORY
It's said that the city officials created Hammock Park as a way to keep residents safe. There was worry that new people moving to Dunedin might want to build houses in the area where the Howler resides. So, the Commission, in an effort to keep everyone safe, bought the property and turned it into today's Hammock Park. Commissioner Gow's father was an instrumental part of the creation of the park! But unfortunately, because of the veil secrecy officials and community leaders keep over their knowledge of the Howler's deadly history, people are still in grave danger because now they can visit the Howler's home without knowing its true, darker purpose. Some local even have a tradition of visiting the park in October at night to try to see the Howler. As crazy as it sounds, they think it's just good fun. But in reality, they could end up the Howler's next victim.
Gladys E. Douglas Preserve is part of the conspraicy too! Why do you think there was a big push for the city to buy it! And right next to the cemetery!
